Frank Karika was the coach for the BC Junior Development squad when I was a teen competing in the 70's. He cared, he tried hard, and I benefitted greatly as a player and as a developing young adult from his influence

With the recent passing of Frank, Mike, Danny, and Chandra, the BCTTA lost, in just under two years, a generation of venerable coaches and officials. Hence, we recognize the importance and urgency of developing the next generation of officials. These include coaches, umpires and referees and, in collaboration with Table Tennis Canada, we make training these officials a key priority. After all, this organizational branch of the sport is the key to helping table tennis in BC grow and thrive. Without officials there’d be no player development, no efficiently run tournaments, and no promotion of table tennis at a grass roots level.
Throughout the year BCTTA and TTCanada, offer development opportunities for officials. Aspiring coaches, umpires and referees can register for workshops, and courses (both online and in person) designed to prepare candidates for exams.
If you have any questions about any of the development programs we offer for coaches, referees and umpires, please contact the BCTTA Officials Director.
