The 2023 Canadian Junior Table Tennis Championships were held July 10 to 14 in Drummondville, Quebec, and as expected the competition was intense in singles, doubles and team events. The BC Junior Team brought home a pile of medals along with big first-place wins in Girls U19 and Girls U13. Congratulations to the players, coaches, admin staff, parents and all who cheered on the BC Team.
Calling all BC table tennis players 55 years and over for the 55+ BC Games in Abbotsford from August 22-26, 2023. This is a great opportunity to meet and compete with senior players from around the province. The 55+ BC Games are an important part of the BC sport system and the largest annual multi-sport event in the province for those 55 and older.
The BCTTA is offering a Club Umpire Course and Exam for all interested table tennis players of all ages and abilities who want to become more knowledgeable of the rules and regulations of table tennis. The course will be held on Saturday, June 17, from 1-3 pm at Bridgeport Sports Club, 11660 Bridgeport Road, Richmond, BC. Hurry! Registration is limited!
The Richmond Oval becomes the setting for the 2023 Pan-Asia Pacific Open Table Tennis Championships on Saturday and Sunday, June 3 and 4th. This BCTTA-sanctioned tournament is open to players of all levels with events to match your level of play. As a venue for table tennis, the Richmond Oval is second to none with excellent lighting, great floors and infinitely tall ceilings. Spectators are welcome to attend!
Join us on Sunday May 7, 2023 for the “Early Summer 45+ Team Tournament”, a non-sanctioned event at Bridgeport Sports Club where the emphasis is on fun as well as competition. Call your training friends and form a team today. Teams should consist of 3 or 4 players where the top three player’s points do not exceed 3500. The deadline for entry is April 30. Hurry, this event is first come, first served.
Announcing the 2023 North Shore Open, a fun, non-sanctioned table tennis tournament on Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30 at the North Shore Table Tennis Club, 1555 Forbes Avenue in North Vancouver. This tournament is open to players of all abilities and disabilities, of all ages and playing levels. Registration is limited so get your entry in today!
The BCTTA is pleased to announce the annual BC Open Table Tennis Championships on Saturday and Sunday, April 22 and 23, 2023. This BCTTA-sanctioned tournament is the most popular table tennis tournament of the year and includes categories of play to accommodate all levels of players from beginners to elite. The BC Open Table Tennis Championships will be held at the centrally-located Bridgeport Sports Club, 11660 Bridgeport Road in Richmond.
Calling all over 40 table tennis competitors! Cosports Racquet Sports Club in Port Coquitlam is hosting a team challenge tournament on Saturday, March 25 at 10am. This tournament at a top-notch facility is open to the first 8 teams to register, so hurry: the deadline is March 21st.
The BCTTA is looking for volunteer scorekeepers for the BC Open Table Tennis Championships on April 22-23. If you know how to keep match scores and you are interested in helping out, please contact us ASAP. High school students: any hours you volunteer as a scorekeeper will be counted as hours toward your high school graduation records.
Congratulations to Moscrop Secondary School for hosting THE most exciting and well-attended BC Secondary School Table Tennis Championships in its 50 year history! With the help of Moscrop’s army of 70+ volunteers, 181 athletes, high school table tennis players from 31 BC secondary schools, battled it out over two full days to a gallery full of spectators.
In many ways, the British Columbia Secondary Schools Table Tennis Championship (BCSSTTC) is the most inspirational local tournament each year. Started in 1973 by Dr. Chandra Madhosingh, the provincial high school championship event is celebrating its 50th year in 2023. This tournament showcases the future stars of BC table tennis, and features an ensemble of hundreds of kids on dozens of teams having the time of their lives playing like mad for their respective schools.
The Canada Winter Games 2023 has now ended. What a spectacular event! Our BC Table tennis team of under 19 athletes did really well and everyone here at the BCTTA is extremely proud of Louise Fan, Sophia Li, Terry Li and David Mandelstam. Way to go, BC!
The Canada Winter Games have begun we are hoping all Team BC athletes do well. Of course, our eyes are on the BC Junior Table Tennis Team: players, managers and officials, and our expectations are high. See for yourself, as table tennis is among the sports to be televised as part of the event.
The Richmond Table Tennis Spring League commences on February 21 with another exciting season of fast and furious team table tennis at the Bridgeport Sports Club, the largest dedicated table tennis facility in BC. Deadline for registration is February 15. The league is limited to a maximum of 8 teams in each of 3 divisions, with maximum of 6 players in each team.
