The 55+ BC Games are an important part of the BC sport system and the largest annual multi-sport event in the province. The Games offer the opportunity to celebrate sport and active living with other participants from across the province and experience the hospitality of the host community.

Table Tennis at the 55+ BC Games

Calling all BC table tennis players 55 and over for what many will describe as the best table tennis tournament of the year. Meet, compete and get to know other senior table tennis players from all over the province. As many already know, table tennis is among the most popular sports enjoyed by those over 55, second only to pickleball when it comes to ease of access and fitness benefits. Table tennis is for most of the competitors in this tournament a lifetime pursuit with many having started in their teens as competitive juniors. One such table tennis player is 70 year old Gerry Hamer, a well-known VTTC member who first played the sport as a teenager and never quit. With an unorthodox style that confounds opponents, Gerry regularly beats players half his age. “I would play every day if I could”, says Hamer, “but the body needs time to recover so I play three days per week.” When we asked Gerry if he was looking forward to the 55+ games he replied “Most certainly, sir!”

Table Tennis in the 55+ BC Games is a four day competition featuring men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles. Recreational and competitive divisions are available in all events.
